Dogg with a Blogg Part 2

Our team is starting to ROLL. I do not recall a race in my career (and I’m incredibly old) that we had a Varsity lone victor but on top of that a double first place. Great races by Sir John and the newly crowned Freshman Phenom Mike Trost (or Trawst if you listen to the announcements).

This week we are preparing for our State Dress Rehearsal at lovely Detweiller Park in Peoria Illinois. This year our preparations are a little different and so is our attitude. We have the confidence this year to crack some skulls on the race track this year. And with the boys’ team not focused on finding homecoming dates this week our training is pure and untainted by the typical shenanigans thanks to the scheduling of HC in October. Anyways, we are very prepared to dress up to get down at the Avanti’s.

Personally, I have been feeling markedly better and my knee pain is getting more and more manageable. Peoria has always been a course that gives me a bench mark to beat and also a place with good running memories to thrive off of. It is the first big meet we go to every season and we can go toe to toe with some fast teams in our process of building a state-quality team (tasty stuff guys). It’s a great meet that influences me every year to take bigger steps to becoming a true runner.

I am very excited to see our freshmen class developing. Each year our freshmen classes are getting faster and this year we have a near record amount of freshmen on the team. Our program has developed into a great producer of runners and students of the sport and these guys are the most fun and energetic on the team.

I’m going to shout out the tail end of the Varsity Crew. Chris Curtin, Demetri Panici, and James Sullivan (listed alphabetically because they’re all fast dudes) have been a great force in pushing the front pack as well as keeping our top 7 competitive. Doing a workout with James and Chris today was very refreshing with the three of us rotating the lead and pushing each other in our above-race-pace, uphill 400s. These guys all have an 800 speed factor to be reckoned with.

The Dance. The ‘Ship. State. Whatever you call it this is our chance to feel out the course and what kind of noise we can make in November ( crunch crunch slush slush pound pound )

Signing off,

It’s the R O (double) B (Snoop Robb)

Freshman will all finish top 10 before the end of the year. Just need to keep pushing in practice as a team.
