Three Athletes Compete at Midwest Regional Meet; DeLong Qualifies for NCAA Nationals

On Saturday, November 9th three individuals from the McKendree Cross Country team raced at the Midwest Regional held in Kenosha, WI. Senior Megan Doty was the lone woman competing, and senior Blake DeLong and freshman Dylan Harley represented the men's side. The course was hilly and the conditions were chilly and windy, but all three athletes competed well. Doty finished 51st in the field of 198 runners, posting a time of 22:57 for the 6K course to finish out her cross country career as a Bearcat. Harley finished 98th overall out of the 199 competitors, running a PR of 33:57 for a 10K. Senior Blake DeLong placed 6th in the field, not only grabbing All-Regional honors but also qualifying for NCAA DII Nationals. DeLong covered the 10K course in a time of 31:28. He is the first McKendree athlete to qualify for a NCAA National Championship. Nationals will be held in Spokane, Washington on November 23rd.
