(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 25)—The McKendree University men's track and field team competed at the John Craft Invitational on Saturday in Charleston, Ill. The meet was hosted by Eastern Illinois University.
McKendree recorded a total of nine top-10 finishes at the meet. Junior
Cameron James (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) led the way for the Bearcats by winning the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.73 seconds. James was also eighth in the 200-meter dash at 23.05 seconds. Junior
Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) also had a strong showing in the 60-meter dash, taking third with an effort of 6.91 seconds. Also on the track, sophomore
Grayson Horton (Crest Hill, IL/Joliet Catholic) placed 10
th in the 600-meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:26.21.
In field events, freshmen
Ryan Pearce (Villa Grove, IL/Villa Grove) and
Harry Uyehara (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) each turned in a pair of top-10 performances. Pearce won the shot put with a throw of 15.49 meters while taking fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.63 meters. Uyehara grabbed eighth place in the shot put at 13.00 meters and ninth in the weight throw with an effort of 12.62 meters.
Freshman
Alex McCrite (Tamms, IL/Egyptian) rounded out the list of strong performances for McKendree by taking third place in the high jump. McCrite cleared a height of 1.98 meters.
Next weekend, McKendree will have teams competing at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind., and at the Indianapolis Track and Field Classic in Indianapolis.
