(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 2)—The McKendree University women's track and field team was in Indianapolis over the weekend to compete in the Indianapolis Challenge. The two-day meet was hosted Friday and Saturday by the University of Indianapolis.
McKendree captured a pair of individual titles among its eight top-five finishes for the event. Sophomore
Karis Johnson (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) brought home top honors in the 800-meter run. Johnson crossed the finish line in a final time of 2:20.88. Freshman
Ciara Jones (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) won the triple jump with a distance of 10.85 meters. Freshman
Rebecca McKee (Morris, IL/Morris) joined Jones at the top of the standings in the triple jump, taking third in the event at 9.53 meters.
Senior
Hannah Inyart (Belleville, IL/Belleville East) placed fifth overall in the 5,000-meter run. Inyart was clocked in a time of 18:37.72. McKendree also had a pair of top finishers in the pentathlon as sophomore
Tori Fulgham (East Alton, IL/Roxana) was third in the event, followed closely in fourth place by sophomore
Lindsey Jansen (St. Louis, MO/Lafayette).
In relay events, the Bearcats won the 4 x 800-meter race with a time of 9:50.38 while collecting fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay thanks to an effort of 4:21.68.
McKendree will be in Bourbonnais, Ill., on Saturday for the ONU Invitational hosted by Olivet Nazarene University.
