(LEBANON, Ill., April 5)—The McKendree University men's track and field team placed fifth at the Greenville College Select Meet on Saturday.
The Bearcats recorded 60 total points in the day-long meet. McKendree athletes accounted for 10 top-five efforts in Greenville, including a victory by freshman
Ryan Pearce (Villa Grove, IL/Villa Grove) in the shot put. Pearce topped the field with a winning toss of 15.10 meters. He also collected second place in the discus throw at 45.39 meters.
Freshman
Harry Uyehara (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) also turned in a pair of top-five efforts in throwing events. Uyehara was right behind Pearce in the discus, finishing third with a throw of 41.06 meters. In the shot put, Uyehara was fifth overall at 12.93 meters.
In the jumps, freshman
Alex McCrite (Tamms, IL/Egyptian) took second in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.88 meters. Deonte Andresen was third in the long jump with a distance of 6.55 meters, while sophomore
Kyle Kleeman (Carlinville, IL/Carlinville) was fifth in the triple jump at 12.57 meters.
On the track, freshman
Alexis Palmer (Parkland, FL/Nova) placed third in the 400-meter dash with a final time of 51.09 seconds. Sophomore
Duane Cargill (Nassau, Bahamas/Liberty Christian Academy) posted a time of 1:57.97 to grab third place in the 800-meter run.
The Bearcats 4 x 100-meter relay team took third place at Greenville with a combined time of 42.22 seconds. Andresen and Palmer were part of the relay squad along with sophomore
Dominick Pickens (Springfield, IL/Lanphier) and freshman
Kevin Witcik (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem).
Up next for McKendree is the Billiken Invitational, which will take place April 11 at Saint Louis University.
