(LIBERTY, Mo., May 2)—The McKendree University women's track and field closed out the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships by placing 11
th in the two-day meet. The event wrapped up early Saturday evening on the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.
The Bearcats finished the meet with a total of 20 points. McKendree scored points in five different events on Saturday, including both relay races that were contested. The Bearcats finished sixth in the women's 4 x 100-meter relay with a final time of 48.72 seconds. Sophomores
Lashawntianna Brown (Chicago, IL/Northlawndale College Prep) and
Nicole Dentzman (Springfield, IL/Lanphier), along with freshmen
Jayda Hill (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) and
Mollie Bowman (Sullivan, IL/Sullivan), represented McKendree in the 4 x 100-meter relay.
McKendree also placed sixth in the women's 4 x 400-meter relay, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:00.45. Senior
Christine Cunningham (St. Jacob, IL/Triad) was joined by sophomores
Tori Fulgham (East Alton, IL/Roxana),
Karis Johnson (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) and Dentzman in the event.
Cunningham also registered the Bearcats' highest individual finish on Saturday, taking fourth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 2:19.22. Senior
Hannah Inyart (Belleville, IL/Belleville East) also scored points for McKendree in the 1,500-meter run as she placed seventh in the race. Inyart was clocked in a time of 4:44.28. Rounding out the list of top finishers for the Bearcats was sophomore
Melissa Calcara (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville), who was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.47 seconds.
The University of Indianapolis (181.33 points) edged Lewis University (177.33 points) for the overall team title at the GLVC Outdoor Championships.
McKendree will return to the track May 7-8 at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, which will be hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
