(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 26) – McKendree University senior Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) and sophomore DeMontez McCray (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) were each named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest All-Region team for the 2016-17 NCAA Division II indoor track & field season.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top three relay teams.

Friscia earned the distinction for the first time in his career after posting a time of 6.84 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships.

McCray picked up his second straight All-Midwest Region honor in the 200-meter after posting a time of 21.39 last season. McCray bumped that time to 21.26 this season after hitting an NCAA Automatic Qualifying Standard at the GLVC Indoor Championships with the fourth fastest time in Division II this season and securing at spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, AL Mar. 10-11.

The duo helped the Bearcats to their highest finish at the GLVC Indoor Championships in program history after posting 89 points for a fourth place showing.

Head coach Michael Mendez was excited for his two athlete's accomplishments.

"I am very proud of these two men for everything they've done for our program and I am happy their hard work and dedication can be rewarded by their All-Region selections," said Mendez. "The energy, commitment, and performances both Donnie and DeMontez bring to our team completely change the atmosphere, and when they're on, we're on. Each are exemplary athletes as they earn their athletic achievements and continue to impress our fans, spectators, and staff with their ability and performances. Donnie is one of our few seniors on the team, he deserves every accolade he earns as he has devoted five years to our program, and I could not be happier for him."
