(Lebanon, Ill., Jan. 29) --The McKendree University men's track and field dominated at the Principia Relays this weekend. The two day event was hosted by Principia College in Elsah, IL.
The men's team dominated on the track as sophomore
Demontez McCray (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon), junior
Kevin Witcik (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem), and senior
Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) finished second, third, and fourth in the 60-meter with time of 7.01, 7.03, and 7.10-seconds.
McCray also took home a first place finish in the 300-meter with a time of 35.92-seconds, joined by sophomore
Tyler Johnson (South Holland, IL/St. Rita) who finished fifth at 36.88-seconds and junior
Alexis Palmer (Parkland, FL/Nova), who placed eighth with a time of 37.72-seconds.
Palmer picked up a fourth place showing in the 200-meter with a time of 22.74-seconds joined by Witcik and Johnson who placed sixth and tenth with time of 22.97 and 23.50-seconds respectively.
Sophomore
Andrew Gardewine (Effingham, IL/Effingham) and freshman
Gabe Silva (Lebanon, IL/Lebanon) took home the top two times in the 500-meter after finishing in 1:07.77 and 1:09.10. Freshman
Eddie Sparks (Troy, IL/Triad) also picked up a top ten finish with a time of 1:10.70.
Freshman
Darren Arzu (Chicago, IL/Hillcrest) finished in 8.93-seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, which was good enough for a third place showing.
The Bearcats relay teams placed first and second in the 1,600-SM with finishes of 3:48.28 and 3:51.47. The McKendree 4x200-meter squad hauled in a second place showing with a time of 1:31.47 and the 4x800-team placed fifth with a finish of 8:11.67.
In the field sophomore
Monte Wolke (Sigel, IL/Cumberland) hit a height of 4.25-meters in the pole vault to earn first place.
Sophomore
Chase Hagene (Nashville, IL/Nashville) and junior
Harry Uyehara (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) placed in the top ten in the shot put with throw of 12.53 and 12.23-meters. Uyehara also finished sixth in the weight throw with a heave of 14.10-meters.
Sophomore
Lafayette Waters (Murrieta, CA/Murrieta Valley) took home second place in the long jump with a distance of 6.71-meters. Sophomore
Coree Harrell (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) finished fifth in the triple jump after a mark of 13.02-meters and was joined by Waters who placed seventh at 12.46-meters and sophomore
Jacob Troutman (Flossmoor, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) who landed in ninth at 12.32-meters.
Freshman
Ethan Snow (Columbia, IL/Columbia) added a third place showing for McKendree in the high jump at 1.82-meters.
The Bearcats return to action this weekend in Bloomington, IL in a meet hosted by Illinois-Wesleyan on Feb. 3.
