Krystin Baker

Assistant Coach



Krystin Baker has led the men’s and women’s throws groups for McKendree University since the fall of 2015. Her guidance and coaching style were an immediate success as she directed Ryan Pearce to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Athlete of the Year award during the outdoor season in 2016. This past indoor season, the Bearcats would score in both the men’s and women’s shot put, which marks the first time this has happened in school history with the GLVC. During the 2017 outdoor campaign, Baker guided Pearce to the first field national qualifier for the men's squad as he broke the school record in the discus with over a 55-meter throw a the GLVC Championships. Pearce went on to finish 15th in the country at the NCAA Division II Championships in Bradenton, FL in 2017.

At the GLVC Outdoor Championships in 2017, the men’s throws group scored 31 points on their its way to helping the Bearcats capture the team title. Combining the indoor and outdoor seasons, the McKendree men’s and women’s throws group scored a total of 64 points towards the team’s highest team places ever.

Baker holds the McKendree freshman shot put record and helped the Bearcats win several conference championships, both indoor and outdoor. Before obtaining her most recent position, Baker helped her previous high school break several records and collect several throws state qualifiers in her short time.

A stellar student, she has earned multiple graduate degrees and currently resides in Belleville while working at Dupo High School.
