Waverly, IOWA Following a race where the coaching staff felt some better times were left on the course, the Beaver Men's Cross Country Team came back and ran some of their best races of the year Saturday at the Wartburg Invite. 4 of the BVU runners crossed the line just 30 seconds apart from each other as they worked hard in the past few weeks to improve times and results.
Coach
Colt Slack praised the effort of the team on Saturday, "A much better weekend than the previous meet for the men. We had 5 PR's on the day. We are headed in the right direction with our conference championships right around the corner." Crossing the line first for BVU was
Cameron Kaltschnee with a time of 27:34.18 and the teams best finish at 37th place. Following Kaltschnee,
Greg Tystahl crossed about 19 seconds later at 27:53.77. Within 13 seconds of that run,
Kyle Miller and
Jon Flaws also finished the race in the pack. "We had a few guys in the sub 28 range today with Kaltschnee and Tystahl. And Flaws and Miller followed just behind them. We ran as a pack and it proved solid in the results category," Slack said.
As the Beavers start to wind down the season, the coaching staff knows they still have goals yet to be met, "Still work to be done but it is encouraging seeing our men run well right now. I think we will put out a great product at the championships in a few weekends."
The BVU racers will have one more shot at National Qualification as they head to Decorah Saturday October 31st for the A-R-C Championships.
