NLCC Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Championship

Location: Matthews Middle School, 3500 Darrell Rd. Island Lake, IL
Spectator Parking: Spectators will NOT be allowed to park at Matthews Middle School. Spectators can park at one of three (3) off-site locations:

1) Robert Crown Elementary School
620 W. Bonner Rd, Wauconda, IL 60084
2) Cotton Creek Elementary School
545 Newport Ct, Island Lake, IL 60042
3) Kemper Valve and Fittings Corporation
3001 N. Darrell Road, Island Lake, IL

All of these locations are also on the map provided in the informational email. Buses will begin picking up spectators starting at 8:30 a.m. and bring them to Matthews. Buses will run back and forth at 10 minute intervals.

Schedule

10:00 am Girls Varsity Race (7 entries)
10:30 am Boys Varsity Race (7 entries)
11:00 am Girls JV Race- (7 entries)
11:30 am Boys JV Race- (7 entries)
12:00 pm Co-ed Open Race (Unlimited entries)

Note: After the boys’ varsity race, each subsequent race will start as soon as possible after the finish of the last runner in the previous race.

Course: All races are 3 miles in length
Markings: Red flags denote a left turn, yellow flags denote a right turn, and blue flags denote a straight ahead. Course will be marked with arrows as well.
Entries: 1. 7 runners only in varsity races per NLCC Guidelines.

2. Entries for JV will be limited to 7 athletes per gender, per school.
3. Unlimited entries for co-ed open race.


Awards: The top 21 individuals in the boys and girls varsity race will earn medals, per the conference constitution. A trophy will be awarded to the varsity boys and girls teams following the conclusion of the final race. Medals to the top 15 finishers in both JV races will be awarded. Ribbons will be given to the top 15 boys and girls finishers in the co-ed open race.
Sportsmanship Award Winner-The NLCC will recognize a male and female athlete from each member school with a sportsmanship medal. Please send names prior to day of meet for announcer.
Start Positions: Will be selected randomly prior to the meet.
Restrooms/Concessions: Concessions will be available all day. Portable restrooms will be located at the north end of the Matthews Middle School parking lot.
Athletic Trainer: Wauconda will provide 2 athletic trainers for the entire day should your athletes need them.

Course at Matthews

3 mile course: 3 full clockwise laps. Once started runners will turn right into the woods. After the 3rd lap, by
the south wall of the school,the runners will turn right towards the finish line. On laps 1 and 2, runners will run
through the woods. There will be times where the athletes have to cross asphalt.
