Zachary High School is hosting the 2023 Baton Rouge Metro Cross Country Championship to
be held at Highland Road Community Park on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Participants: Only LHSAA member schools and LHSAA-registered eligible athletes are allowed
to compete in the Varsity and Junior Varsity races. There are NO races available at this meet for
non-LHSAA athletes.
Event Schedule:
● 2:30 PM Check-In/Packet Pick-up
● 3:30 PM Junior Varsity Boys + Girls (2-3 miles) - unlimited entries, unscored, coaches
timed
● 4:30 PM Varsity Girls (3 Miles) - 12 entries/school
● 5:00 PM Varsity Boys (3 miles) - 12 entries/school
● Team Awards – Immediately following the Varsity Boys Race
Scoring: Timing provided by Adkins Trak Timing. All runners will be issued a bib number with an
integral timing chip. Runners must pin the bib number on the front of their shirts. All runners
must cross over the finish line scoring mat with their bib intact to be scored. Runners that do not
cross over the scoring mat with a bib will not be scored. A team must have a minimum of 5
finishers to receive a team score.
Timing: Official timing will cease 30 minutes after the start of each race to expedite the
compilation of results. Runners still on the course will be directed along the far straightaway to a
finish line adjacent to the primary finish line on the opposite side of the canal. Coaches are
responsible for timing their runners in any race when either the official timer or display clock has
been reset.
Uniforms: All runners in all races must wear school-issued uniforms in accordance with the
NFHS Track and Field Cross Country Rule Book.
Awards: Awards will be presented to the top two teams in the scored Varsity and Junior Varsity
races. Medals will be presented to the top three runners in the Girls' and Boys' Varsity races. Tshirts provided by Varsity Sports to the top 20 finishers in the Girls' and Boys Varsity races.
