MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- 
The Augustana men's and women's cross country team had a strong showing at the 30th annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

The men's team took third in the Maroon II Division on Saturday, while the women took ninth at the invitational.

The men's team took home third-place with a score of 98 points, two points behind second place Wisconsin-Parkside and five points behind first-place Black Hills State.

Keegan Carda was the fastest runner for the Vikings finishing fifth in the race with a time of 26:17. Nathan Hauge took 12th with a time of 26:33. Glen Ellingson placed 15th with a time of 26:36.

Nick Larsen took 28th with a time of 27:06. Logan Burns finished 38th with a time of 27:22. Adam Kostrecorded a time 29:31 and Chance Freese finished with a time of 29:59.

The women's team placed ninth with a score of 247 points. Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent Minnesota Duluth won the event with 83 points.

Annie Kruse was the fastest runner for Augustana placing 17th with a time of 23:29.3, followed by Mackenzie Kelly finishing 18th with a time of 23:33.8. Courtney Hottovy placed 39th with a time of 24:26.0.

Carly Bauer finished 70th with a time of 24:52.9. Avery Selberg took 103rd with a time of 25:33.7. Annika Rotvold clocked in at 25.55.1. Emma Anderson finished with a time of 27:34.4.

"I felt both team accomplished our goals of racing in big fields and competed well." Head Coach Tracy Hellman says "The Griak meet is always a good measuring point for us, yet we have shown we race much better at the end of the season, that being said we need to make some improvement which we can do that. Overall it was a good opener for us but we look forward to the championship season later in the year."

Augustana will return to action on October 10th at the Briar Cliff Invitational in Sioux City, Iowa.
