NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D.-
 Augustana University men's and women's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the Briar Cliff Invitational Saturday morning.

The women's team placed second at the invitational with a total of 60 points, Creighton University took home first place with 29 total points The men's team finished 10th with 281 points, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent University of Sioux Falls took the top spot with 36 points.

On the women's side, the Vikings had all five runners place in the top-25. Annie Kruse was the best finisher for Augustana coming in second, clocking in a personal best with a time of 17:21.29.

Mackenzie Kelly was racing tenth the entire race, then finished strong to come in sixth with a time of 17:50.83. Courtney Hottovy placed 11th with a time of 18:08.82. Annika Rotvold and Ida Eltervaag finished back to back at 20th and 21st with times of 18:24.29 and 18:26.59  

On the men's side, Jonas Gjesdal had a strong Augustana debut with a sixth place finish, clocking in with a time of 25:33.21.

Logan Burns placed 34th with a season best time of 26:31.94. Adam Kost finished 102nd with a time 28:10.01. Sean Heaton placed 122nd clocking in with a time of 28:45.35. Josh Barrows finished 148th with a time of 29:34.93.

"This is our final tuneup of the regular season and now we shift our focus to the most important time of the year." Head Coach Tracy Hellman saids "The next few meets (Conference, Regionals, Nationals), we hope to have our best team races of the season. We are excited and ready to race with our full squad and see the results of our long and difficult training sessions."

Augustana will next compete at the NSIC Championship on Oct. 24 in Minneapolis Minn.
