Girl's Compete at Galesburg Last Chance Indoor

The Plains Girl’s Track & Field Team competed at the Galesburg Silver Streak Last Chance Invite held at Monmouth College this past Saturday, March 21st. The girls were trying to improve their times and marks in order to qualify for the Illinois Top Times meet in Bloomington, scheduled for this Friday, March 27th.

Results were as follows: Hope Tewes finished first in the high jump clearing 5’4”. Ali Pankey placed second in the event with a jump of 5’0”. Pankey also finished in second place in the 800 Meter Run. Amber Clouser won the 60 Meter Hurdles. Clouser also placed 5th in the Long Jump with a season best leap of 15’11”. The 4x200 Relay of Lauren Feagans, Stephanie Race, Claire Watson and Lauryn Leonard placed 5th setting a new PR (personal record) for the indoor season, 1:55.04. The 4x400 Relay of Stephanie Race, Lauren FeagansCarley Hamilton, and Ali Pankey placed 7th overall, again setting a new PR for the season, 4:30.11. The 4x800 Relay of Lauren Feagans, Carley Hamilton, Carolyn Nika and Ali Pankey placed 6th overall and posted their fastest time of the season, 10:47.97. 

At this meet the girls competed against larger schools, there is no separation by Class. Plains competed against teams like Galesburg, Quincy, Moline, Peoria Central, Rock Island, Dunlap, East Peoria and Fort Madison, Iowa. While there are no team scores kept at this meet  Plains did finish third out of over twenty five teams competing at the meet scoring a total of 49 points. Dunlap finished first overall, with Moline second. The girls held their own and proved they can compete against the large schools.
