Plains Girls run to a Sangamo Conference title

Congratulations to the Plains Girl’s Track & Field Team on winning their fourth straight Sangamo Conference Title last night in Auburn. The girls scored 153 points on their way to earning the championship. Auburn finished second with 146 points, followed by PORTA with 87 and Williamsville with 70. 

 

Meet highlights included: 

 

Triple Jump: Hope Tewes, 2nd place. Hope established a new school record in the event by jumping 33’ 1.5” breaking the old mark of 33’ 1/2” held by Jennifer Wilson. Amber Clouser, 2nd place, with a new season PR of 31’4”.

 

Shot Put: C.J. Schmitt, 2nd place. 

 

Discus: C.J. Schmitt, 6th place, with a season best throw of 80’5”. 

 

Long Jump: Amber Clouser, 1st place. 

 

High Jump: Hope Tewes, 1st place; Ali Pankey 4th place.

 

Pole Vault: Stephanie Race, 3rd place; Alivia Zaubi, 4th place. Both vaulters set PR’s for the season.

 

4x800 Relay: 2nd place, Stephanie Race, Carley Hamilton, Carolyn Nika and Ali Pankey, running a season best time of 10:13.57.

 

4x100 Relay: 1st place, setting a new school record time of 51.14, Amber Clouser, Lauryn Leonard, Lauren Feagans, Hope Tewes. The old record of 51.6 was held by Katie McGraw, Megan Craven, Hannah Hergenrother and Madison Oschwald.

 

3200 Meter Run: Venla Rajamaki, 4th place; Rachel Lange, 5th place.

 

100 Hurdles: Amber Clouser, 1st place with a season best time of 15.72. Roya Nassirpour, 5th place.

 

100 Meter Dash: Lauryn Leonard, 2nd place; Hope Tewes, 3rd place.

 

800 Meter Run: Ali Pankey, 1st place, with a season best time of 2:22.87, just shy of her own school record. Carley Hamilton, 5th place.

 

4x200 Relay: 1st place, Lauren Feagans, Stephanie Race, Claire Watson and Lauryn Leonard, winning with a season best time of 1:51.61.

 

300 Hurdles: Lauren Feagans, 1st place, with a new season PR of 49.74. Roya Nassirpour, 5th place, with a new season best time of 54.39.

 

1600 Meter Run: Emily Russell, 5th place.

 

200 Meter Dash: Claire Watson, 4th place, with a season best time of 27.10. 

 

4x400 Relay: 1st place, Stephanie Race, Carolyn Nika, Lauren Feagans and Ali Pankey, winning with a season best time of 4:15.29.
