The Varsity Spartans win two while the Frosh/Soph Split with Metea Valley and Providence.

The Varsity Opened up with a double win.  The final score was 59/ MV 24/ Prov 24.  Leading the way 2 first place finishes and 2 career marks was Malik Riley (21'1" Long Jump) & (41'10.5" triple jump).  There were 3 other spartans who were responsible for 2 wins on the night.  Marcos Povilaitis won the 55 HH (8.3), Luis Loza won the 1600m run (4:46.5) and Dave Andrews won the 800m (2:11.75).  The 3 of them came back in the 4 x 400m relay with another win.  They were joined by Ian Irvine, who finished 2nd in the 1600m (4:48.5) to Loza.  Also coming away with wins were: Prosper Osinloye in shot put(49'3"), Matt Bush in the 3200m (10:41.43).  Runners up for the Spartans were: Justin Suits 3200m (10:42.43), D'Lante Dawson 55m (6.6).  3rd place finishes were Ezekiel Cabanas 800m (2:12.41), Anthony Vodicka 1600m (5:05).  And making his debut with 2 fourth place finishes (long Jump &Triple Jump) was Antwone Burge.  Also beginning the year with a 4th place finish was Victor Osinloye in shot Put (46'1).

The frosh soph team opened with a strong finish.  The final score was Providence 57/ Romeoville 49/ Metea 37.  1st place finishers for the spartans were:  Carlos Ibanez in 1600m (5:05).  Making his Spartan debut, Lonnie Trent 200m (26.1).  Also making their spartan debuts, just out of basketball, Xavier Jones in triple Jump (37'11") and Daytwen Burge in Long Jump (19'4").  And a final 1st place in their spartan debut, Joe Otchere in high jump (5').  Runner ups were: THomas Rocha 3200m (13:09.1), Lonnie Trent 55m (6.86), Jorge Ocampo 200m (26.7), Devon Maxey shot put (33'1"), Xavier Jones Long Jump (18'7"), Daytwen Burge triple jump (37'5").  3rd Place finishes: Jacob Brooker 3200m (13:22.4) and Trey Harbert in Triple Jump (30'8.5").  4th place finishes:  Tyree Allen 55m (6.90) & Shot Put (31'4").  The Spartans head to the Mustang relays at North Central college a week from monday.
