Spartans compete at Greg Foster Invite

Wednesday, March 4 2020 - Greg Foster Invitational


The Romeoville Spartans opened their season this past weekend at the Greg Foster invite at Proviso West high school.  Leading the way for the Spartans, with 2 event victories, was Enoch Antwi.  Enoch first won the long jump with a distance of 6.85 meters (22’5.5”), which is a new PR.  Enoch then came back and won the triple jump with a distance of 14.42 meters (47’3.5”), which is now our new school record, and currently places him atop the state triple jump leaderboard.  Our jumpers continued to show good performances.  Dotun Adelabu hit a new PR in triple jump with a distance of 12.98m (42’5.5”) and our two frosh/soph triple jumpers competed in their first meets.  Hayden Sexton jumped 34’11” and Austin Rivera jumped 33’4”.  The high jumpers had good PR days as well.  Jayden Green finally broke the 6 foot barrier, going 6’1”.  Jordan brown increased his personal best to 5’7” and Cade Racine moved his to 5’3”.   Jayden green and Taofiq Shogbuyi both had good days in the sprints, Jayden (6.81) and TJ (6.85) in the 55m dash.  In the 200, Adelabu and Shogbuyi ran 24.91 and 25.38 respectively.  Christian Marin and Daveon Smith debuted in the 400.  Both ran the open and the relay and ran 2 56’s in both races.  Chase Pruett opened his 1600  season with a 5:04 and Zaid Rodriguez opened with a 5:22 1600.  Then 2 freshman opened their hurdle season with Josh Carli clocking 28.91 and Austin rivera colocking a 33.15.  The Spartans travel to Olivet Nazarene next Saturday.
