Plains girls take second at Rushville Sectional

The Pleasant Plains girls took second place as a team at the 2015 Rushville Track & Field Sectional. All four relays qualified for this year's State Meet in Charleston. In addition to the relays, Plains also qualified for the State Meet in five individual events. To qualify for the State Meet, an individual or relay must place first or second in their respective event, or meet IHSA State qualifying standards.

On the day of the meet it was a rainy, cloudy and cool day in Rushville. Heavy downpours early during the meet finally subsided, giving way to a cool, misty afternoon/evening. All the girls ran well despite the tough conditions.

Highlights include:

Hope Tewes, first place in the High Jump with a jump of 5'2".

Amber Clouser, first place in the Long Jump with a leap of 16'3.0".

The 4x800 Relay of Stephanie Race, Carley Hamilton, Carolyn Nika and Ali Pankey placed first with a time of 10:26.43.

The 4x100 Relay of Amber Clouser, Lauryn Leonard, Lauren Feagans and Hope Tewes placed second with a time of 51.87. Illini West won the 4x100 in 50.43.

Amber Clouser placed second in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a of 16.33. Alyssa Vignos of New Berlin won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.95.

Ali Pankey placed second in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:29.32. Mariah Brodie of Illini West won the 800 in a time of 2:21.15.

The 4x200 Relay of Lauren Feagans, Stephanie Race, Claire Watson and Jillian Yakel placed second overall with a time of 1:52.25. Illii West won this relay with a time of 1:47.91.

Lauren Feagans finished in second place in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 50.41. Aubrey Carlisle of Illini West won this event in 48.49.

The 4x400 Relay of Stephanie Race, Carolyn Nika, Lauren Feagans and Ali Pankey placed second overall with at time of 4.20.49. Illini West won the relay in 4:06.37
