The Spartans compete well against the Celtics of Providence and the tigers of Metea Valley.

On Friday, the Romeoville Spartans hosted the Metea Valley Tigers and the Providence Celtics.  The Spartans had a very successful night with several personal records set and 1 new school record.  The big event on the night was shot put. Amiri Buchanan broke the 26 year old school record held by Astein Osei.  Amiri tossed the shot 58’8”, good enough for a current ranking of #2 in the state at the time of the writing. Enoch Antwi won the triple jump with a career PR of 44’7” and long jump with a season PR of 21’3”.  Kamari Rush won the 55m dash in 6.47 seconds and came back to win the 200 in 23.72 seconds. The spartans swept the the 55 with Kejuan Stamps, Joe De La Rosa and Jayden Green placing 2 - 4. The Spartan jumpers also went 1 - 4 in the long jump with Antwi, Stamps (20’2”) Diego Durr (19’6”) and Austin Conners (18’5”) rounding out the top 4.  Durr (40’10.5) and Stamps (39’7”) went ? in triple jump. Manuel Buendia led a sweep in the 1600, running 4:56. Eduardo Fulgencio was 2nd (5:05), Dave Krupa was 3rd (5:23) and Robert Mark was 4th (5:26). Christian Stephens won the 400 (59.05) and placed 3rd in the 55HH (8.90). Green finished 2nd in high jump (5’6”). Danny Loza placed 2nd in the 800 (2:28) and Dariel Alonso finished 3rd (2:30).  Brandon white set a new career pr in the 200 (26.11). On the front, the 4 x 1 lap relay of De La Rosa, Rush, Stamps and Antwi ran the 3rd fastest time in school history, clocking 1:17.67.

The frosh soph team had a successful night in their competition against Providence and Metea Valley.  The frosh/soph had the only triple individual event winner on the night. Jaquille Brown won the 55m (6.94), Long Jump (20’6” CPR) and Triple jump (37’6”).  The 4 x 8 of Chase Pruett, Danny Loza, Zaid Rodriquez and Josh Kamuda ran a 9:47. The 4 x 1 lap ran a 1:30.17. It consisted of all freshmen, Joel Anyan, Allen Jones, Joe Marcotte and Elijah Lofton.  Kamuda and Pruett dueled it out in the 1600, both hitting 5:07 for a 1-2 finish. Calvin glass finished 2nd in the 200 (27.26) and 3rd in the 55 (7.27). Joel Anyan 3rd in the triple jump (27’10.5”) and 3rd in high jump (5’) and Cade Racine finished 3rd in long jump (16’4.5”).
