Sycamores Indoor Track & Field Schedule announced
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State track & field has released the 2021-22 indoor schedule headlined by a trio of indoor competitions at the Indiana State Indoor Track & Field facility.
Overall, the Sycamores are scheduled to compete in seven meets over the indoor season leading up to the 2022 Missouri Valley Indoor Track Championships on February 27-28.
"The Missouri Valley Conference has chosen to have our conference meet at the new Gately Park facility up in Chicago and accordingly we have adjusted our schedule to run on some banked tracks throughout the season to help our athletes prepare," Program Director & Head Coach Angela Martin said. "The team is excited to compete again and we are looking forward to a great season."
Indiana State will open the indoor season with an early meet prior to the holiday break at the DePaul University Holiday Invitational on Friday, December 10. The one-day event in Chicago will jumpstart the season and provide the Sycamores a good base to build heading into 2022.
Following the holidays, Indiana State is back in action with back-to-back home meets on January 15th and January 22nd. The home opener on January 15 continues the long-running rivalry with Illinois State as the teams continue the Coughlan/Mallory Cup battle. The following weekend continues the John Gartland Invitational with the Sycamores welcoming opponents to the Indoor Track & Field facility.
The Sycamores head back on the road for their next three competitions as they travel to Louisville, Notre Dame, and Indiana on consecutive weeks. Indiana State travels to the Louisville Indoor on January 29 to start the road trip, before hitting the road over February 4-5 at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational. ISU closes out the swing at the IU Hoosier Hills on February 11.
Indiana State is back home for one final tune-up prior to the postseason as the Sycamores host the ISU Open on February 19.
The 2022 Missouri Valley Indoor Track Championships will be held on February 27-28 in Chicago, Ill. The NCAA Indoor National Championships will be held on March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala.
Indiana State's 2022 outdoor track and field schedule will be released at a later date.
