ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Indiana State men's and women's track and field teams were both selected to finish third in the annual MVC preseason poll as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

The Sycamores garnered 62 points to finish third on the men's side behind preseason favorite Northern Iowa (76, six 1st) and Illinois State (71, three 1st). ISU picked up 78 points to finish third on the women's side behind preseason favorite Illinois State (100, 10 1st) and Southern Illinois (82).

On the women's side, Indiana State is poised for a strong season. Reigning indoor 3K champion Jocelyn Quiles comes into the indoor season off an impressive cross country season. Quiles finished seventh at the MVC Championship meet and earned all-conference honors. The Sycamores also return some of the top indoor pentathlon competitors in Mia Mackenzie and Kamille Gaskin-Griffith, who finished second and fourth.

The men's team is also poised for a strong season. T12 world record holder and Paralympian gold medalist Noah Malone is one of the big returners for the Sycamores. His experience will be essential in leading the squad. Another sprinter, JaVaughn Moore, also has his sights set high as he wants to repeat as the 60-meter champion after winning in the spring.

Indiana State track & field is gearing up for its first meet of the indoor season on Friday, December 10 as ISU travels to the DePaul University Holiday Invitational. The one-day meet kicks off a seven-meet indoor schedule for the Sycamores leading up to the 2022 Missouri Valley Indoor Track Championships on February 27-28.
